I’ve had many of these and they all work fine and are very durable. This one is working fine as all the rest have. There is always the issue of keeping them from getting clogged with pond debris, but that’s typical. You can always use special nets to wrap the pump up, but I’ve seen special net-wraps for pumps on sale as well. After many years they can burn out (my first lasted 4 years), particularly if they are clogged for a long time. Wish I wasn’t that lazy. Superb pump!

Possibly the best constructed pond-pump available, with one moving part! My old pump stopped working after being in the pond 2 years. I ordered new pump, then decided to change the armature on the old one (very easy task) and voila, it now it works fine, so I have a backup. Fantastic pump, when it clogs, I simply clean and it keeps on ticking. Well, built properly and will last for years and years if taken care of.
